Manufacturer Description

This two-disc set commemorates the rich history of the Pittsburgh Steelers, from the beginning through their extraordinary run in 2004. Benefit program is the NFL Movies production of Super Bowl XIII, the 35-31 thriller in which the Steelers topped the Cowboys. Includes tons of bonus offer features on the best Steeler moments, video games and gamers.

The Total History of the Pittsburgh Steelers is NFL Movies' incredible 142-minute introduction of among the NFL's the majority of storied and successful franchises. It begins with the group's humble start as the Pittsburgh Pirates in 1933, its first star, Byron "Whizzer" White (who quickly gave up football glory for school and an ultimate seat on the United States Supreme Court), and a by-necessity wartime merger with Pennsylvania's other group to form the Phil-Pitt Steagles. Subsequent years brought their move to the new AFC, the hiring of coach Chuck Noll, and an increase of better gamers such as Joe Green, Terry Bradshaw (when he had hair!), Lynn Swann, and Jack Lambert. That led in turn to Franco Harris's "Immaculate Reception" and four Super Bowl champions in a period of six years. However the history doesn't end there. Also covered are gamers such as Rod Woodson, Kordell "Slash" Stewart, Hines Ward, and Ben Roethlisberger, the death of owner Art Rooney, a new coach in square-jawed native kid Expense Cowher, the disappointment of Super Bowl XXX, the notorious coin-flip fiasco, the demolition of Three Rivers Stadium, and the group's relationship with its neighborhood, approximately and consisting of the group's 2004 season.

If that's inadequate, the two-DVD set also includes 3 and a half hours of bonus offer features. There's the 48-minute "NFL's Greatest Games" installment about Super Bowl XIII, 40-minute featurettes on Cowher, Jerome Betttis, and Bradshaw, and much shorter pieces on Harris's Italian fan club, Rocky Bleier, broadcaster Myron Cope, longtime running back and coach Dick Hoak, and the first gamer mic 'd for noise, linebacker Expense Saul. Certainly The Total History of the Pittsburgh Steelers is a must-own for Steeltown fans, however it needs to also appeal to almost anyone interested in football history. -- David Horiuchi
